Brenda Doherty, Partner

Brenda Doherty is a Partner in the Buffkin Group’s Healthcare Practice.  She leads client engagements and is actively involved in expanding the practice.  Following her executive experience in the healthcare industry, she has spent the last 10 years securing leadership talent for hospitals, healthcare systems, long term care, senior living and healthcare associations.  Ms. Doherty specializes in placement of CEOs, COOs, CNOs, Chief Marketing Officers, CFOs and executive leadership in the for profit and nonprofit organizations.

Much of Ms. Doherty’s healthcare career was spent with the former National Medical Enterprises, now known as Tenet Healthcare.  As a Senior Vice President, she was operationally responsible for their contract management division, which involved the startup and ongoing operations of specialty units in general hospitals throughout the United States. 

Following this acute care experience, Ms. Doherty held the position of Vice President Operations for Summerville Healthcare Services (now Emeritus Senior Living) where she was operationally responsible for freestanding assisted & independent living properties on the Eastern seaboard.

Ms. Doherty’s operational experience includes fiscal management,   strategic planning, marketing and referral development, sales, contract negotiations, oversight of clinical services, physician recruitment, licensing and standards compliance.

Before joining The Buffkin Group, Ms. Doherty was a Partner at Korn/Ferry International, as well as managing director of the Charleston Group, a boutique firm specializing in healthcare.

Brenda lives in Alexandria, VA and serves on the Board of The Carpenter’s Shelter, Northern VA’s largest homeless shelter.

Ms. Doherty holds a Master of Science Degree from the University of Maryland.
